Greetings All,

Just wondering what the difference is between the two models. Basically all I can see from the pictures I've been able to find is that the Adventurer seems to have a bit more"bling" than the Legend.

The Adventurer has a different rear subframe and a bobbed rear fender. The different rear end allows a solo seat as an option. It also has a 16" rear wheel and an 18" front wheel as opposed to the Legends 17" wheels front and back. Basically, the differences are all cosmetic (more bling, as you said).

I like the classic looks of the Legend rear fender myself but that is just a personal preference. You would be happy with either bike, it's just a matter of which one looks better to you.

If you're buying a set of tires you'll have more options for the The Legend than the Adventurer.

I've never actually ridden and Adventurer, but I'd guess that the different wheels (2x17" v. 18"/16") would make some sort of difference in the handling, as would the different bars (although the latter is easily changed).

Also the Legend has a lower seat height I believe - something to take into consideration depending on your height.

The specs are very similar, apart from the rear fender/subframe and the tire sizes, as noted above. The Legends have the nice blacked-out engine, which I like. The Adv's have much more chrome.

One thing to note, Gerry, is that both the Legend and Adv have 5-speed transmissions, but if you can find a later (after 97, I think) Tbird, you can have a 6-speed. I haven't riden a 5-speed Legend or Adv, but I do really appreciate having that 6th gear on the highway.

Although a sixth gear would be nice I am completely smitten with my Legend. Depending on how tall you are I suppose the seat height could be an issue; I am guessing you could be a little cramped if you are really tall. I have never ridden an Adventurer, but I could only assume that the differences between the bikes are cosmetic. I think the Legend looks meaner with the blacked out engine especially if you get some more aggressive handle bars than the stock. It really depends on the look you prefer when deciding between the bikes. Think of it this way, you can't make a wrong decision.

Actually the Adventurer seat height is about 1 inch lower than the Legend and T-bird. The adventurer is essentially the same mechanics but from '99 on it has different rear subframe, which makes finding accessories a little more difficult.

But with a little ingenuity and patience these can be overcome, see my album for my solution on a backrest and luggage rack. I took an KG engineering (Vintage Jap aftermarket) and enlarge a few mounting holes to make it fit the adventurer. I also have gotten a bar mount windscreen I'm hoping to mount in the spring along with hi-way barsmade by our own triumphrider99, if my back cooperates and gets better. (I sold my last bike because of impending surgery... I want to keep this one and hopefully "ride" out this issue)

Good luck either way, they are both great bikes!

The one major difference I find between the two is that the rake on the Adventurer was about 2 degrees more than on the Legend with the trail also being more. This made the front end seem to be not as quick and at low speeds it felt more willing to "flop" than the Legend. I like the feel of the Legend more but that's just me.

That's the larger front wheel raising the axle slightly since all the other parts are the same. Raise the forks a bit and the steering speeds up pretty quickly.
