s_boy, Are you able to perform oil changes with the jack stand? From the looks of it, the filter and drain would be inaccessible when lifted. Let us know.

Thanks for the very descriptive opinion BTW. I am sure that many of us have thought about the jack stand but didn't make the leap. For me, I don't have the option of a center stand on my 99 Adventurer and have been considering a swing arm stand.

Take Care,
Rockey

I've seen a Triumph specific review of a swing arm stand, but none on jacks.
SWare, Could you post the link to this review or let me know which model swing arm stand you referred to? I had to return one swing arm stand because it wouldn't clear the exhaust. I intend to buy one but need to know it will fit my Adventurer.

I've been using a Craftsman motorcycle jack for a year or two and find it very helpful for, among other things, removing and reinstalling the rear wheel. Sliding the axle back in the hub can be difficult without it.
For chain cleaning and lubing I use a regular floor jack under the aft corner of the sump and jack the bike up just enough for the rear tire to spin. That allows the bike to be supported by the jack, sidestand, and front tire.
To answer someones question, changing the oil with the Craftsman jack would be difficult (where would you put the catch pan?) but there is really no need to jack the bike up for it.

As a centre stand is not available for the 2004 TBS I bought a abba bikestand. Works ok but I was a little bit aprehensive when I first used it.
gunna use a trolley jack to lift the front when wheel cleaning etc.
