Hi Folks
Does anyone know if there's a product out there to extend lines from the battery terminals out to the side to make charging a battery easier? The seat on my 2001 Legend is a pain in the --- to get off so I can reach the battery terminals. If the right side cover is removed one terminal post is right there - but the other can't be reached. I would think these would be available - even a generic type?

Most of the trickle chargers like "battery tender" have a lead you leave onthe bike and tuck under the seat as you have described.

By far the second worst design on these bikes is the seat release? You need a tool to get to the tools! (First worst being the Air Box!) :hammer:

However you will need to remove the seat from time to time to check the water level ( at least every 3 month) and eventually refill..

T300 batteries are sensitive to boiling due to the high output from the alternator..

BTW easy removing from the saddle is not a big issue, yo have 2 options.. buy gold plated screw for $$$$ or the Dick and knife approach for a few cents

ok legend21,

thats pretty trick, so pony up with bigger pics and instructions on how you made those things. I guess I could figure it out, but I really don't want to work that hard

I found that I don't actually have to remove my battery to fill the cells. After taking the seat off I can remove the strip of caps on top of the battery and fill each cell with distilled water using a dropper and "guestimating" the correct level. Does anyone know if overfilling the battery would hurt it?

Overfilling the battery doesn't necessarily "hurt" it, it just isn't good practice. Doing it your way it would be best to stop short of the full level on each based on the marks you can see on the outside of the battery.

Excess fluid is drained overboard through a plastic tube, you will want to ensure this tube is routed correctly straight down so that no battery acid gets on your bike when it vents.

Wife has a 99 legend......and you are right it is a pain, so I attached 2 leads to the battery and ran them behind the chrome cover on the right side of the bike. Seems to work good for me.

Thanks for the tips everybody - I went out and bought a trickle charger with all the plugs, lead wires, etc. so now I'll be able to keep battery charged from the right side of the bike by just removing the cover.
