Hi everybody.

I have a '99 Legend TT.
When I've been driving for a minimum of about 30 minutes, if I maintain 80mph (about 6000rpm) My tacho starts waving up and down from about 4000 to 6500rpm.

I normally drive with my lights on so the Tacho is quite warm.
The problem also seems worse in hot weather.
I had the usual coil problem (misfire) this year and replaced one coil.

Is this a common problem?

Any suggestions for a cure?

Any advice?

Many Thanks.

Ian.

Hi

The tacho on my 97 tb started waving about wildly at about 4000-6000 rpm if you get my drift. It was replaced under warranty. So in my case must have been a duff tacho.

The replacement one is just starting to move around by about 500 rpm at 5000 rpm. So its a very common problem in my household.

It is very important not to use higher rated backlight bulbs like 5W ones in place of original 2W ones. If you do the plastic insides of the instruments melt. Ive replaced the bulbs with red led's from "ultraleds" they are great and dont blow !

hello Unklian
you have the same problem, which I have with my legend, alone that now also ,I have a problem with the engine of starter.
my tachometer was begun to drive crazy from 5000-6000 r.p.m. and the motorbike was walking normally, I have not wounded finding out the problem, I did with a new tachometer and I it want to prove ,may be a mistake of the instrument.

good luck
  :-D
