simeym,
Legends are 'similar' to the Thunderbirds (same motor etc), but the Bonneville is a different beast altogether.
For starters, the Bonneville has two cylinders and the Legend/Thunderbird has three.

Hi
good to know these things, particularly about the nuts coming loose inside the muffler. However mine have already come loose on one side. Any suggestions on how to repair this as the rattling is driving me nuts.

Thunderbird Seat Mod for Comfort

My major issue with the the T-Bird Sport is the seat. I found that it is very simple and pretty cheap to modify the seat and make it much more comfortable. If you would like to take a crack at improving your t-bird seat, check out the attached pdf.

If the nuts have not come all the way off what might work is using an electric drill or impact wrench to spin the bolt real fast. It works on forks to get that damper rod bolt out and back in if you don't have the special holding tool.

Cool just put money down on 99 Adventure

Any issues I should look for I bought it from a dealer in NH it has 5000 miles on it I got it for $3000.00 I think the price is good the bike is in exellent condition.
Came with a backrest I'd like to throw on some Highway pegs any suggestions would be great.
Can't wait to see all of you on the road.

My list of issues.

1996 T-Bird (low VIN #):

Sprag Clutch went out ($800)
Fork seals ( 3x at @210 labor each time)
Speedometer cable
Speedometer backlight bulb
Tachometer needle broke of
Rubber bushings in front end which the headlight bracket attaches to has deteriorated (next on the list to replace)
Chrome on headers has cooked away
Chrome on mirrors is bubbling up
Alloy wheels are a PITA to polish (why didn't they chrome plate them like every other manufacturer?)
Original Triumph windscreen stress cracked and had to replace with a Memphis Shades unit
On my 3rd set of tires (Metzlers have turned out to be the best)
Replaced the chain 3x

May I ask what VIN# (last six digits) are as I have a 1996 T-Bird as well and the sprag clutch (which works fine yet) issue is lurking in the back on my mind.
