Day before yesterday, I was cruising through the park and there were a bunch of "fast and furious" wannabe cruisers parked next to the road. With the dark tint (legal in TX), I didn't see that anyone was in any of them. When I got alongside one, the jerk (polite word, I used many other worse ones at the time), pulled out, and smacked into the side of my bike. I saw him move out of the corner of my eye, and got my leg up and out of the way in time. He hit me just enough to punch me off into the ditch, then he took off.

Bent the hell out of the headlight casing, broke the left front turn signal stalk, scratched the front fender and windshield. He left some white paint and a very small dent on my gas tank. I hit the ground hard enough to pop my cell phone right through the pocket of my jeans, and I lost a LOT of skin on my elbow (almost to the bone), and left knee, and got three bruised ribs. Didn't get the license on the idiot, and cops couldn't get anyone to confess to knowing who it was.

Here's the prob. My son re-welded the turn signal stalk so it could be remounted, we bent the headlight case back into place, and I will heal up.

I'm somewhat of a new rider though, and I have a question. The bike laid on it's left side for about two or three minutes. It started right up, and I drove it home. Now, though, I have an oil leak coming from the underside of engine. Is this a permanent issue?

If it's not permanent, is there anything that I need to do for the bike now?

Thanks

Some oil has been pushed witin the airbox(which is not completly sealed...) by the oil centrifugator ( located at the left enside of the crankshaft),

Coming out from the airbox, you have a black hose, ending approximatly at the bottom of the rear suspension.

This hose is obturated with a black plastic plug inserted within the hose.

just remove it and some oil should come out,

I hope I 've been clear enough.

BTW it is an easy task, take 5'. Allwhat you need is a plastic glove and and old newspaper ... I guess you know what to to with this items in that case

Wow, what a story!...and that little piece of scheisse just took off did he??
A good whuppin is what he needs!! Too bad no one showed civil courage enough to
point him out...the evidence should be easily found on his car door.

Glad to hear that you're okay though mate
:upthumb: Like so many others have said before, bikes are replaceable...you are not!

On the note of the driver......he was there once, he will be back soon. Those knuckleheads often congregate in the same place regardless of anything including drive-bys.....

You should be able to find him again easily enough....

Glad you weren't hurt real bad. Sounds like the bike is an easy fix. Heal up quick and ride again.

Best wishes,
Jerry

Sorry about your accident. Seems like there are so many people like that today. They don't even care about themselves let alone anyone else. It would not surprise me to find out he did it on purpose. I hope he gets caught.

Did you get his make, model, color and plate number? I have been in a very similiar accident before and did not get anything but a color of the car because I was so rattled during the accident.

I did, however, cruise around for days looking for the SOB but never did find him. Probably best I didn't find him because...well, i'll leave it at that.

Glad to hear you are mostly OK. My crash sent me off into a ditch into fence surrounding a cow pasture. Oh, that was a barbed wire fence too! I heard the guys yelling and laughing as they sped off! Bunch of retarded teenagers. I got up, grabbed a stick that was laying beside my bike and ran up the embankement ready to kill somebody but they were long gone.

Injuries: It had been raining a lot so the ground was very soft and mushy so most of my injuries were bruises from initial impact. Luckily I know how to fall so as not to injure my wrist, arms and other extreties. Pride was my worst injury because my bike was being serviced and it was a loaner bike. I would rather wreck my bike than anyone else' any day! I am just that way. I always treat other peoples stuff better than mine.
