I had to drop my friend off at the airport in Atlanta early this morning. On the way home about a mile from my house is a big intersection where people funnel in to the interstate. As I pull up, there were blue lights everywhere. A small pick-up had collided with what looked like a silver daytona. When I got home I heard on the radio the cyclist had serious injuries and had to be airlifted to the hospital. It was just before daylight. Hope he's ok. Ya'll wear your gear and have a safe weekend!

Out here I see bikers down almost daily.

Here it is a combination of drivers who don't shoulder-check (the old taxi drivers will actually argue with you that shoulder-checking is dangerous...), riders who are insane (high-speed weaving through rush hour traffic), and the inherent belief that the life of a biker isn't worth much, since if they had any money they'd buy a car right?

There have been a few times I've had to get off my bike to pull some other poor b***ard with road rash or a broken leg off the road so that no one else runs over him....
