I changed my registration plate to a smaller one a month ago.
The new one is a 6.3" * 4.7" plate. The legal one is 7.5" * 6.3".
Apparantly this was a huge difference to the mc police officer that pulled me over today.
The conversation started out really well....
P.Off: "WHY ARE YOU RIDING WITHOUT A REGISTRATION PLATE???!!!!!!!!"
Spoon: "Huh...que???"
P. Off: "THAT'S NOT A REGISTRATION PLATE!!!!!!"
Spoon: "Oh really...what is it then?"
P. Off: "I don't know...do you even a have a registration plate? Is this bike even yours???"
Spoon: "Eh...yeah, it's my bike all right."
After that he proceeded to checking and inspecting every millimeter of my scoot...looking mighty peed off I might add.
When his adrenalin level had gone down and the "makin' a bust" boner slackened...we had an okay conversation about motorcycles in general.
Got a $50 dollar fine for riding without a registration plate.
Don't police officers have anything better to do with their time?? Is this really an important issue?
The funny thing is that I strongly suspect that had I kept my rear fender and stock seat this little drama would never have taken place.
Just because I have a bike that looks a little more sporty they think I'm some kind of hooligan on a sportbike. Ah, me and my 70hp are a real menace to society....
Lesson of the day...if you see a police car/bike up ahead that's going really slow....go slow too...don't ever pass him.

I once got pulled by a police car, sirens wailing and blue lights flashing. I pulled over ( thinking I must be wanted for something really serious..)
The two cops got out of the car with a tape measure and clip board, and proceeeded to measure the letters and numerals on my plate!, to see if they conformed. Twats.

Some cops in Australia can be real dickheads too. Eg. Busting riders for having removed the 'Unleaded fuel only' transfer from the tank! Sheesh!

Could be worse...in the States, the cops will bust you for riding a 2nd gear wheelie and going twice the legal limit. If you can believe the nerve! Sheesh!
But that's only if you're wearing full gear. They won't bother you wearing flip-flops, speedo's and a wife-beater (white-trash tank top).

Ninja,
lmao. In Scotland it's called a 'semmit'. An aussie girlfriend told me that in oz it's called a 'Jackie Howe', after a world champion sheep sha... sorry, sheep shearer. :-D
ps. Slinky, do you remember Bike mag once saying that some pubs would let the Kray twins in with a Zephyr, but knock back the Queen mum on a Vincent?

Police officers to me are a schizofrenic breed.
In private they're probably just like most of us, you can have barbeques and talk about football with them and everything....When they get into their uniforms on the other hand, that's when trouble arises. They instantly start pointing with the whole hand and make a big fuss about themselves.
This guy was treating me like I was a complete idiot. I mean, "Why are you riding without a registration plate" is just about the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
I'm fully aware of the fact that the plate was illegal...why not just point that out and give me the ticket.
Why do they have to behave like buttt surfers just because they get to carry a gun....especially in this case when it was quite obvious that I was just a regular dude out riding a motorcycle....I wasn't speeding or being a schmuck in any way...just your regular law abiding citizen :hihi:
I'm off to the vomatorium....again :upthumb:

I dunno where in Aus she was from, but I have NEVER heard them called that.
In Australia, they are called a SINGLET.

No I don't recall that one Johnny, but I think I was in that pub the night the QM got barred. Six gins and she wanted to take the world on.
Anyway, who in their right mind would have asked the Krays to leave

Spooner,
sorry we've drifted off the topic a bit, but Wombat more or less accused me of talking sh!te which requires a reply.
Wombat,
In 1982 I lived in the highlands for a while with a girl called Tracy Bolton-Wood, she was from Mudgereeba near Surfer's Paradise. She also had a few mates from Queensland who lived in a squat in Swiss Cottage, London, including Shirl the whirl and Carol. I can't remember their second names. They came up to visit Tracy and we were all sitting in a pub blethering. The girls were not very complimentary about Aussie men in general, and I remember distinctly them describing their epitome of them as being "bloody surfies with their tinnies, in their stubbies and Jackie Howe" this was just jargon to me and I asked "what is a Jackie Howe?" I've told you the answer I got. Sorry if that doesn't suit you mate.
