Hi Everyone!
I've been a frequent visitor to the site since I bought my '98 TBS in May. I am proud to be a Triumph owner and am happy to be able to join this group.
A little about myself. I started riding last spring on a '96 Vulcan 900a and was an active member on the VROC forum. Let me just say that this forum seems much more civilized to say the least. Anyway, I quickly learned that I needed something a little more capable than the Vulcan. My father had started riding again (after a 25 year hiadous) at the time I started. In fact, we took the MSF class together. Of course I had been looking for a motorcycle and found a beautiful babied '96 Thunderbird that I thought was about the most gorgeous bike I had ever seen. I didn't have the cash so the old man bought it for himself. Later I discovered the TBS and was in love.
Well, this spring I found a '98 TBS with only 3800 miles for a measly $4300 on craigslist. Of course I jumped on the deal. And now here I am. The bike is terrific. Handling, power, looks, it's got it all. I even feel bad for my old man now since when we ride together, the TBS gets more attention. Hey, he stole my first crush, it's only fair right?
Of course I'm now getting ready to mess with perfection and remove the rear fender, mod the airbox, add some pipes and rejet. Eventually I'd like to powder coat the lower fork legs, upper and lower clamps and add some gaiters (or maybe just fork protectors). I hope that the many repetative questions generated by these projects don't get too old too quick.
Thanks all,
Cheers
