My Girlfriend is looking for a new seat on her '98 TBS (actually, she is looking for me to get her one for her Bday).

As far as she is concerned, the stock seat is way soft, and uncomfortable after long-ish rides. I tend to agree with her.

What are your thoughts on the Triumph Single Seat & Cowl or High Pillion Seat? I read one review of the solo seat on-line, and that it was VERY hard. For some reason, this does not seem to bother the Girlfriend.

Any other recommendations on alternative seating options

Comfortable T-bird seats have been a common topic on this site. I think the consensus is that the two Triumph seats you mentioned add nice style but not much in the way of comfort. I think the best way to insure comfort would be to take the seat pan to an aftermarket saddle maker (several are mentioned on this site, just do a search for "thunderbird saddle"). A cheaper version would be to take the seat to a local auto upholsterer for replacement of the craptastic Triumph padding with something decent. Good luck!

i have the single seat w/cowl and find it to be more comfortable than the factory seat. please bear in mind i weigh 215lbs. but i found the original seat painful.

not trying to hijack your post but,i wonder how the high pillion would be and would it be comfortable for a passenger?

No worries about hijacking, as I was wondering the same. I'd prefer to get the high pillion seat, personally...in case something happens and I have to ride us home.

I presume that the rider portion of the seat is the same on both seats (solo or High Pillion).

After searching around, I am also considering the Corbin Gunfighter (and Lady?) seat, and doing the modification to make it fit. In this case, Corbin's a bit cheaper.

I have both the Corbin Gunfighter and the Single seat w/cowl.

I like the Corbin better.

I put 1000 miles on the bike this weekend with the corbin and a sheepskin cover.

The mod is not that difficult.

You have to remove the locking pin, turn it 180 degrees and reposition it forward about an inch and then just drill a couple of small holes in the seat pan and pop rivet it in place.
