MV3 at the Manx gp.

hello boys, it's been a while,

I'm hawking my mutton over on the twins forums these days, but was thinking of you again this week. I was marshaling at sector 9 at the Manx gp, the sound of the MV's was magic, so I thought you'd like to hear the sound a gp racing triple again. Alan Oversby was racing the 350 in the junior, 500 in the senior (classics) some links for you here:

Absolutely wonderful! I was fortunate enough to have attended GP's at the end of the MV's reign, when Phil Read was riding them. The utterly glorious noise on full chat has remained with me ever since. I also saw, and heard, the MV six at brands hatch, on the occasion of John Surtee's 60th birthday celebrations. What a heavenly racket! Puts Moto GP bikes to shame!

Cheers johny! What a sound , I remember Read ringing the nuts of it at Mallory back when.

MV location

keyman,

It's at Snugborough, between Braddan Bridge and Union Mills. If you turn the sound right up, you can hear the bike going down the gears for Quarter Bridge, going up then down the gears between there and Braddan Bridge, then screaming towards Union Mills away from the camera.

I was marshaling for that race (senior classic) at Tower Bends. On laps 3 and 4 Alan was trying really hard, getting a wiggle out of the rear end going out of Tower up to the Gooseneck. Shortly after though, I heard the marshal at Joey's call in on the radio that no.2 was smoking badly, then expired 1/2 mile later at Guthries. So the 500 MV was dnf again

Alan had better luck in the junior classic, came in 3rd on the 350 MV:

The l.O.M. is the only place where just finishing feels great. l was very lucky no DNF's except in practice and just two crashes . Rider ok (just). The Island is the perfect place for the TBS if only the ferry was not such a rip off and hotel or b,b. hard to find. Oh and remember to put you watches back fifty years!!.
