Hi,

I just bought a very low mileage (9k) and immaculately maintained '95 T'bird. I'm really happy with it.
But the left silencer is quite loud, (significantly more than the right one), so when I give it some stick it sounds odd - mostly like a single cylinder bike!
Both cans have standard part numbers, so I suspect the left one has a loose/corroded baffle or something. I've posted a want ad for another pair of standard ones, (surely some out there languishing in a workshop somewhere?) but would be happy with loud ones - so long as they both sounded the same...
But would I have to re-jet if I fit the noisy ones? Or just tweak the mixture screw as advised on the tuning guide download?

The two sides do sound different. Remember one side will sound like a single cylinder and the other is basically a two into one, with no link between the two. Having said that you would expect the right side to be louder as it is dumping more gas.

You should not need to rejet for the "loud" silencers. Why not just open up the right side one with a hole saw?

I put adventurer off-road pipes on mine. Now the left sounds like a LOUD single cylinder.
Mufflers aren't going to change it.
The only way to get rid of the pap-pap-pap single sound would be to go to a 3 into 1 exhaust or have some sort of collector bridging the pipes.

The Triumph off road pipes really make the difference more noticeable. Could you have offroad pipes or maybe drilled baffles? The stock silencers are extremely quiet so you don't notice the difference so much.

Get a three into one for it. Mine sounds great, goes better.....well it seems to anyway, it is certainly a lot smoother.
Did I tell you how much I like my new three into one? :-D
