Hey all,

A recent thread from Spooner got into the K&N pod filters, then drifted into jetting.

What are the right K&N pod filters (and breather filter) for a TBS?

Anyone got the part #'s?

I couldn't get an answer from my K&N dealer here in Singapore so I called their main line in the UK today.

I estimate that a 61-62mm or 2 3/8" flange will fit.

The service guy recommended RU-1730.

That has a 62mm flange, 95mm outside diameter, and 51mm height.

Might fit. But it has a 20 degree angle on the flange.

I told my dealer to order a set and I will see if they fit.

Retails for 26.44 Pounds Sterling each.

If anyone else has fit pods (from K&N or someone else) please let us know what you used.

thanks in advance

Ray

Ray,

Thanks for your reply...

I have looked at the filters that Jack Lilley offers, and I noticed that they have an oval shape - do the RU-1730 look like that, or are they round? I also see that the J.L. kit also offers a small crome-tubed breather filter for the crankcase. However, $350 US plus shipping for something made in the US, then shipped to them to ship back to me seems so wasteful (and out of this teacher's budget).

Let me know how those work out.

Thanks,
Brooke

The ones I have ordered are about US$30 each and they are round, but I used a bit of basic trig (remember pie-r-squared?) and I estimate that they should fit when squeezed a bit.

I was looking at the S&B page, looks promising but cant seem to find a dealer that will ship internationally. Anyone know of such a dealer? I think a few guys have the S&B carbs.

According to the information I collected a few years ago (when the TBS was new) the individual filters should be RU-2780. I see that JL mentions some spacers. For some reason I can't find the # for the breather.

How about pod filters on a '95 TBird? Anyone have experience with that set-up. I have Trimumph off-road pipes, and I'm not sure if the bike was rejetted when the off-road pipes were installed. Any thought on whether I'd need re-jetting if I installed pod filters?

Thanks.
