Went for a bit of a ride today, and I have noticed that my bike seems to run out of puff between about 6500 and 7000. Feels lean to me.
I recently fitted a custom system,a 3-1 system that is quite free flowing(read loud) Its got a K&N airfilter, the pilot screws are out 2 1/2 turns already. Otherwise its bog stock, aux air chamber is still fitted. Fuel system is clean and happy.
It also has a nice crackle on decel.Maybe a little too much. :-D At all other rev ranges, (we rode in the hills today, so I gave it a proper workout) it seems to run quite well.
Question is, where do i go from here, my idea was to pull the airbox and mod it myself, then send it off for its 50,000 service and get rejetted then. Im pretty handy with a spanner but the guys I take it too have all the gear and a dyno on hand. If I knew what jets to chuck in it I would do that part myself.

If there was only one recipe life would be simple. To properly jet mine I had to do 4 or 5 dyno runs because I was changing too may thing every time. Lesson learned, do all the changes before you try to have the jetting done right.

On the seat dyno is quite difficult. By the sound of it, You could be too lean everywhere and leaner on top.

It depends how far you want to go. If you change your airbox now, you can probably have advise on what jetting to use for a start and you would only need fine tuning to finish. Depends on how much you want to put in it. I am glad I did the jetting myself because the cost of fooling around the carbs in a shop must be horrible.

If you change the airbox, do the jetting and one dyno run, you will have a very good idea on what to change. I have to follow your tuning to see what the 3-1 system will do.

IF everything else is stock, I'd say #40 pilot jets and #100 mains. You might be OK with #102 mains and the new pipes or it might go a bit rich. Try about 2 turns on the mixture screws and see how it behaves.
