Just completed my first weekend long run on the TBS.

Friday: Friend (on VFR 800 ) and I headed up through central Scotland to deepest Aberdeen-shire to spend the night with Brother (Yamaha 90O) few showers nothing to long.

Saturday: Headed west and north over the mountains to Inverness cold and very wet (This is supposed to be summer!!) Weather cleared up at Inverness and was warm and sunny all the way to Ullapool. Lovely roads, not much traffic and the TBS was really great, The throw overs stayed in place and happily did not get burned on the Pipes!!

Sunday: Nice B&B in Ullapool , lots of bikes from both UK and Abroad. Weather really warm and sunny on way home down the West Coast, Scenery fabulous, I live in a beautiful country.

624 miles , good roads, good company, pretty good weather cant wait to do it again, The tbs did not even get very dirty .

Did you go as far as John O'Groats?

I just like the name of that town... John O' Groats :-D

I've never been that far myself, I remember liking Inverness though, and Skye... wish I'd had a bike when I was there last.

I go up to Kinlochleven for the pre 65 trial every year in May, I've covered most of the highlands, great rodes, stunning scenery, can't wait for next year. the last 4 years I've been on a Tiger so taking the TBS will be different..
IMHO John O' Groats is a bit of a dissapointment..
Role on next May...

The whole east coast of Scotland is a bit dull compared to the west (imho) I lived in Caithness in 1977/78 (we had a club called 'North coast Roadrunners', but if truth be told we spent more time in the pub) When we did sober up and get the bikes out, from about Melvich (west of Thurso and JOG's) things get pointier and prettier.
The north west between Ullapool and Lochinver is as nice as anything I saw in Norway (pauses to snuffle with pride) in fact one of the nicest things I saw (when I rode out of another bloody tunnel) was the QE2 berthed at Flam. I was nearly greetin' then, so I was.
