but I just have to ask. How's the wheeliebility on the T-bird? Anyone here do a wheelie once in a while for the babes/police officers?

While I was returning home from victoria with an overloaded bike, I did a beauty by accident. Came down with a rather large bang, dont think Ill be doing it too often. I have a mate who can wheelie anything, he once did a stand up on a harley. :-D

Excellent! However unintelligent and moronic wheelies might seem....IT WOULD BE REALLY COOL TO BE ABLE TO DO ONE!!!!!! Don't think I'll be trying it either though....I had a similar experience on a 2up once...gave a little too much gas at a red light and felt the front wheel lift...good thing the girl didn't fall off :-D

Edit: Especially since the girl was a customer..a singer from Australia.

Can't see anything "cool" about doing a wheelie.

Why do it? Just so your bike can slam down hard on the ground?

Well...the slammin' is what would be considered a newbie mistake.
I don't think Rossi slams his bike down after doing a wheelie. Do you?

When I was a young man riding dirt bikes, wheelies were a normal part of life.

Believe it or not, my bone stock Adventurer will wheelie - but it ain't easy to make it do it. And I think it stresses the clutch too much. I've done it twice on purpose and a couple of times by accident. Never did the front end slam down (throttle, throttle...!).

Once when riding two-up with the wife, we had to quickly get out of the way of an apparently blind cager during a rolling start. The front wheel came off the ground and held for probably 50 feet then came down smoothly. I couldn't have done it better on purpose. I didn't say anything to my wife and she didn't do the "panic grab". A few miles down the road I asked her if she noticed and she said "Yeah, it was fun." We carried on normally.

I know I certainly *felt* cool...

Tbird's not meant to wheelie but it will. Did it once leaving the line trying to prove a point to a kid in a GTI. Not a showy one - up about a foot all the way through first gear. Just fed the clutch in real fast at about 6000 rpm and stayed on it till I shifted.

Did it again after getting the bike tuned. Rubber was fresh, traction was perfect, whacked the throttle open coming out of a turn and the front was up maybe 6 inches. Made me smile.

If you were determined, you could practice standing up, yanking on the bars while gassing it - I'm sure it could be perfected and equally sure the front end would suffer. Speed Triple is much better suited for that sort of behavior.

Yeah, I got about a foot of altitude on my Adventurer while avoiding a couple of cerebral rectumitis victims in an intersection.

I guess it's nice to know the bike will do it, but it's not a favorite thing.

Now the old 750 Kawi triple 2-stroke I had for a while was a serious wheelie machine -- especially when you wanted both wheels on the ground. If it didn't get all snakey in turns, I'd have kept it.... :-D
