Well, I brought home a 2000 Legend today. Someone is supposed to come and get my 95 Tbird this weekend. Initial impressions are a little so so but I've only ridden the Legend about 13 miles so I'm sure it will grow on me. I REALLY like my Tbird and I am hoping I won't be dissapointed in the Legend.
Any one else have similar experiences? Thoughts? Feedback?
Thanks
Frank

Maybe I missed your other posts so I am sorry if I am rehashing an old topic. What made you go from your 95 Tbird to an 00 Legend?

Honestly, it was one of those deals you can't refuse. The dealership where I bought the Tbird last year called me and said the guy that traded it to them was desperate to get in touch with me. He wanted his old bike back. I called and talked with him for awhile and told him I really hadn't planned on selling it and that I liked it as much as he did. He asked what it would take for me to feel comfortable in letting it go. I told him and he agreed. It's not like I am taking him to the cleaners but I was able to sell the TBird, buy the Legend and still put a couple bones back in my pocket. Everybodies happy (unless I don't like the Legend as well).

We cannot accept your nick anymore. You're gonna have to change it.
:-D
Good luck with the new bike! I wouldn't have traveled down that road but I'm sure
the Legend is quite a nice bike too.

Yea, I guess the name doesn't fit anymore does it. Maybe X95TBird? :-D
I think I'll go put a few more miles on the Legend. I'm sure it just needs to grow on me a bit.

Well, ya know...all the good T3 classics were pre-98. :-D
Just teasing folks!
I hope you enjoy the Legend as much as the Tbird.

Good Luck with the new bike!! Just curious what are the main differences between the thunderbird and the legend? I always thought they were pretty much the same mechanically. Fbird

Mechanicaly they are. The only real differences are the seat is shaped differently (thinner), the suspension links are longer, both of which lower the seat several inches. It has different handlebars and 17" wheels as opposed to the TBirds 16" / 18" combo. The lower ride height and 17" wheels really combine to reduce ground clearance though. I was surprised tonight when my boot started to drag the ground and I know I wasn't leaning as far as I had on the TBird.
All in all though, it has started to grow on me more. Overall, it feels a little more cruiserish than the Tbird, and it handles as such. Not bad, just different.

What tires are on it? Sport tires and raising the forks in the trees will improve handling. Preload on the rear shock is adjustable and I like mine on the firm side. I would also recommend changing the fork oil. Use a good quality 15W. Sounds like you could use rear-sets too. Much improved riding position, especially with lower bars.
