Other Motorcycle: I wish!
Up until now I have been using Mobil 1 Red Cap oil in my TBS, and been very happy with it.

Mobil has changed the packaging recently and I am wondering if the new Gold Cap 15W50 is the same stuff.
It is not 'Energy Conserving' , so should be OK with a wet clutch.

Anyone used it yet?
Have they only changed the label or did they change the formula too?

I know everyone has their favourite oil and will tell me that X is better than Y, but I dont give a rats about other oils.

My question is about Mobil 1 Gold Cap.

Hey wombat ( Bob),
I just changed the oil in my Legend last weekend. I too have noticed the change in the packaging. I ordered the oil from GreatBay Triumph and they sent me the four liter container 15W50 for T racing. It had a Gold cap on the container. My guess is that it's probably the same stuff. Though the last time I used Mobil 15W50 in with the red cap I purchased it at one of those mega stores like Walmart. It was with the auto type oils. I read the back and even a dealer in town told me it's what they sell and is pretty much the same stuff. I had no problem with the old red cap stuff. Here is what I noticed between the two oils. The stuff for Triumph racing oil for T is a much lighter in color oil. The old red cap oil had a darker color. More amber in tone. I believe I read somewhere that racing oil has less "carrier" oil or chemical, something like that. I'm not sure what "carrier" oil is, other than some sort of additive. Anyone here care to enlighten me? But the Triumph oil is definitely lighter in color. It's all syn so it's all pretty much the same I would imagine. Good luck with your own discoveries.
