I was out and about tonight on my bird. Now typically I ride with my high beams on, for safety/visibility, but most of my riding is during the day.

Well, tonight I turned off my high beams, then turned off my driving lights, and the road got really dark. I knew the low-beam was poor, but it was ridiculous. So I took a look at it then, and saw it was just my parking light that's lit when the switch is on low-beam (the dim light that comes on if you turn your key past the steering lock setting).

I changed my headlamp to a xenon version of the same wattage many months ago, btw. I have a spare lamp, and the old one, which I may try swapping out later. But it seemed to me that this might be a problem with the switch rather than the lamp, as the high beam works just fine.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

I am on to my 4th headlight bulb in 14,000 miles.

Every one of the bulbs worked fine on high beam but the low beams died.

The currently installed high intensity bulb that I purchased from New Bonneville has lasted the longest of them all.

Interesting, Woodsie - you're saying the short lamp life may be due to excessive voltage? Huh... I got 2-3,000 miles with the xenon, but the original halogen was still good at 6-7k miles.

Thanks Bob in HI, I'll replace the lamp. Hey I got ohana in Kailua, bruddah!

I'm up at 12000 miles now and only a speedo bulb changed. I ride with dipped headlight on all the time.

Yeah I have also blown all my speedo and Tacho bulbs, seems to be an issue here.
