I changed mine recently for a sealed gel type, the original still turned the engine over ok but it was 5 years old. I was surprised to find that the electrolyte level was down to about half way! I hadn't looked at it for some time, too busy fannying about with airboxes! Anyway, worth looking at yours now if you have a lead/acid type.

Yeah these things use a bit of battery fluid, seems to do it worse on long trips, I thought the regulator might have a bit of a problem on these bikes.
Any thoughts on this? I seem to be constantly topping mine up.

The problem is that Triumph bought the cheapie alternator/rectifier/regulator that doesn't have any output sensing, so it can't tell when the battery is fully charged and or adjust it's output voltage for demand.

The regulator chip itself only seems to provide a constant voltage for the alternator rotor. Unfortunately since there's no remote sensing the alternator output voltage tends to creep upward with rpm and overcharge the battery.

I'm embarrassed to say this but the battery that was in the bike when I bought it last May was dry. stone dry. I rode the bike for about a month I had check all the other fluids. and the former owner seemed to have taken great care of the bike and I neglected to check the electrolyte. When I did it was to late. But hey, I was going to buy a gel cell anyways.

Which gelcell fits.
I heard that the WestcoWC14L-B is a direct replacement.
But I haven't found an agent for Westco in Australia.

Any others?

Thought I'd drag this old topic back up, I'd like to know of a Gel Battery to fit as well. I checked my battery about three days ago and it was bone dry, seemed to still be woriking ok. Now it has boiled dry, its still the original one theres a good chance it will fail on me soon. It's over two years old and this is the second time I have found it bone dry.
So as T150V asked and now I'm asking which gel battery fits besides westco as I cant find a supplier either.
Thanks ......................Jim

The Yuasa site lists the YTX14AHL-BS as a sealed low-maintenance alternative to the YB14L-A2

I'm not ready for a new battery yet, but Woodsie I'd appreciate knowing how you went with Yuasa.
