Since I can no longer get TORs from my dealer, I have been looking at various after-market offerings.

I do like the D&Ds, but I have been looking at the Emgo Dunstall replica cans.

Can anyone advise on the quality of the Emgos and how they perform on a TBS, as they are ALOT cheaper than the D&Ds.

Either way I will be opening up the airbox and upping the jets to #40 pilots and #115 mains.

I have the EMGO reverse cone's on my Thunderbird and I like them for the price. I have not seen the D&D's so I can not comment on the quality but I am sure that you get what you pay for. The chrome on the EMGO's looks great but I do not expect it to last like the more expensive silencers might. I have only had them on my bike for about a month so I can not comment on the durability yet either.

The revese cone's are repackable and I believe that the Dunstall's are not. I also believe that the Dunstall's are a little quieter and will probably sound GREAT as mine are just a bit loud for my taste.

Like I mentioned earlier, the bottom line is that you get what you pay for. The EMGO's are good but probably not as good as the D&D's. They are DEFINATELY good enough for me (and my budget).

Just my opinion
Frank

I'll be the same automatic old me when it comes to aftermarket exhaust :-D
Have you checked out the Thunderbike 3-1 system for TBS? Other than that I hear that
Staintune is one of the best for our bikes.

Thunderbike

I don't have them myself but I'm dying to get them...almost.

Staintunes are the best, they must be there made in Australia. The Thunderbike systems are good, but the Stainless steel ones need to be removed to change the oil filter, Those Kiwis arent as smart as us Aussies.

How would you compare the Staintunes to Triumph's own reverse cone performance pipes?
I've heard nothing but good stuff about Staintune, the reason I like the Thunderbike system is because it's a 3-1 system. Apparanatly 3-1 is optimal when it comes to tuning the bike. Even pressure and smoother idle etc....sounds like a good place to start. I guess a balance pipe could be an option...but I don't see how to fit that on the regular T-bird headers.

Cant compare the Staintunes to the Reverse cones as I have never seen the reverse cones or heard them. The Staintunes look and sound mint.
If you want to get a 3 into 1system, go for the steel/chrome ones. Might not last as long as the stainless system, but it sure makes oil changes a lot easier.

Just got a quote to get a 3 into 1 system made, $900 au. stainless steel, with a reverse cone large muffler, he needs the bike for three days, but its worth it to get a system that I dont have to remove to change the oil.
I saw a TBird in a shop today with one of his systems on it and they look mint. The guy trades under the name of The Motorcycle Exhaust Professionals, There in Slacks Creek for any Brisbane Tbird owners interested.

Being from Oz, i would be inclined towards the Staintunes,
but from what I have seen, you loose some bottom end power with a 3-1 system and gain more at the top end.
I dont need more up top as I do not ride there, plus I like the look of the reverse cones.

Good on ya Bob from Sydney, was through that way the week before last, it's still as big a hole as you can get(I spent my first 17 years in Sydney) .
I tend to ride my bikes pretty hard(some say I flog them) so I dont really need the low down. I am going to have a ride and a listen to the bike that was at Brisbane triumph today, maybe tomorrow, before I decide to go the 3-1 route. I will have to do something soon as my originals are leaking around the mounting brackets at the rear footpegs. And it appears the LHS one is cracked at that point. More after I have had a ride/listen.

I've been looking at the Emgo reverse cone shortys for my TBS, not sure how they would look with the way the cone is split for replaceable baffle set up. Haven't actually seen them in person to see how the quality is. Fbird
