Has anyone fitted the BUFFALO brand of fabric panniers & tank pack ( Touring size - page 222 of the latest M & P catalogue ) to a Thunderbird? I purchased them and they fit o.k. but the pillion can't get their feet on the foot-rests. Not a lot of use as I bought them for two-up touring around the U.K. this year
Looks like I will have to move the rear indicators or replace them with ' minicators ' which is a pain,
I didn't buy the Triumph kit because, it is overpriced, too small and looks to be of only average quality.
What kit do U.K / European Thunderbird owners use for touring ? If my stuff is no good I will be selling 'as new ' pretty well straight away.
Thanks in anticipation.

I use the Frank Thomas kit - the sports version. Have you tried pushing the pannier pack as far back as it can safely go?
PS - is that REAL Buffalo? :-D Maybe a Bison would fit better!

Hi RF

I use Hepco and Becker panniers and top box. (Pics in the Thunderbird section ) and so far I'm very pleased with them. I spent ages asking people for advice as I wanted lockable hard luggage. I considered firms like Givi but they don't make a fixing kit for Tbirds apparently.

I eventually tracked a supplier and haven't looked back.
See the thread called Tbird Luggage.

I hope you all (in the UK midlands) enjoyed yesterdays great weather. I managed a very pleasant tour of my fave roads in the Peak District.

Safe riding

Pete

Uhh... well, see, if you have a London accent 'basin' sounds like 'bison' - a basin is a sink in England - where you wash things... a bit obscure I guess! I wasn't suggesting the Yanks are thick - but then a lot of American stand-up stuff goes right over our heads too! ;-)
