I'm sure this has been covered before; however, does anyone have any comments about the flyscreen (Triumph) for the Thunderbird Sport? Also, any comments about other screens you may have tried.

I fitted a National Cycle F-16 (standard) from MPS. I think it was about £50 - good fit, but don;t use the healdamp bracket clamps - they don;t work and just mark the chrome. It does vibrate a bit so I took the centre bracket off the plug-ugly Triumph flysceen I've got and used that. It does a good job of deflecting excess wind, doesn;t seem to affect the handling and looks good.

I did have the flyscreen on my TBS. It will deflect some of the wind but not very much. I had it mostly for the looks along with the solo seat.

I eventuallly installed the F-16 windscreen and modified the brackets to hold it more solid and also painted it to better match the bike.
Look at my Photo Album on page #4 in the Member Maintained Albums on this site. there are photos of both of them mounted on my bike.

I've been riding with the flyscreen for at least 4 years. I've found that it breaks enough wind to make it easier to hang on at 70 mph into a 20 - 30 mph headwind for short distances.

Just purchased a 00 Tiger and the taller n wider windscreen on that drives home the fact that if you are planning some long distance riding, a bigger handlebar mounted screen would make the trip more enjoyable.

I do know riders on the US mainland who have toured the TBS with just the flyscreen and are quite happy. OTOH, one Yahoo TTBSR member fitted a larger screen to complete the Triumph Across America (and back). He really appreciated the larger screen in the hot windy western deserts.

IMHO you can't beat the looks of the TBS flyscreen. But if you need protection from the elements then the large handlebar systems are the ticket.
