How to lower my 99 TBS
Hi,
Had seen several thread on this topic, but couldn't summarise exactly what to do..
I want to lower my TBS, as I find it to high, and axpect also to lower its CG to improve handling...
So learned about changing the damper links and the side stand, but replaced with which part from and which part number...If any can help

You need the links from a Legend, either that or make some.

To keep the handling characteristics the same, yes, I would lower the front forks in the triple tree. You'll also want the side stand from a Legend, as it is shorter than the TBS. A T-Bird side stand may be too short, with the 16" rear wheel.

So to summarize, I need both, Links PN T2059480, and side stand from a Legend.
I am getting confused, as somebody did tell me to use PN T2059465 for the links, which is a Tbird (95-98) type installed...???
regarding lowering of the fork, do you have idea or clue of the lenght to enter the fork tubes?
Thank you

I'm not sure I understand the logic in having to change the side stand. A Tbird with a longer shock and Legend shock links should pretty much end up back where it started.
Chelmi, as for lowering the front end. Before you change anything, you should measure a point on the seat directly above the axle. Measure again when you are done, and see how much it has changed.
You should only need to raise the forks if the rear is lowered, you can get way with maybe 15mm max. before the top of the tubes hits the handlebar. I have mine raised by 10mm as the rear static sag is lowered about that much.
Edit. I see it's a TBS you want to lower, my bad

hi Slinky,
So yes indeed it is for a TBS.
So would you have an idea about the link and side stand to use?? either TB 95-98 or Legend?

I think the TBS and Tbird links are the same, you need the Legend part. I'm not clear on the numbers though. It would be very easy to make different links, each one can just be a piece of mild steel bar 25mm x6mm with a hole in each end.
You would need to move the holes about 6mm apart to lower the bike by 25mm or so.

Not sure about the part numbers for the Legend, but late model Tbirds had the same dog bones as the TBS (T2059470). The T2059465 part is indeed for the earlier model TBird. I think they would have changed over when the TBird got the lower sub-frame with the bolt on type seat.
I wouldn't buy the Legend side stand until you've checked the existing stand with your new ride height - you may find that it's OK.

You'll need the side stand. Check it out on bike bandit, they are all 3 different part numbers.
TBS and Legend are both 17" wheel base, and you have now lowered the bike around 1". Think the same side stand will work? Nada. You might be able to get by with a T-Bird stand though....
