T3 Exhaust Choices

just figured i'd try to help compile all the exhausts threads into one. since the T3 engines don't vary much in stock form, this would be a great place to look for insight on exhaust options. please post your experiences with aftermarket systems if you have them. those of us still running with stock can really figure out what we want out of our triples.

after a lot of research, i'm sold on picking up the Dunstall Replica slip-ons sometime before spring. they look close enough to stock but for around $120 you get a much deeper tone. i found a great reference video of the same bike running stock, and then the Dunstalls.

it's great if you run both videos at the same time, you can really hear the difference in them!

those are videos i found on youtube

so far i've found them at...

JC Whitney (SKU#: 1JA 014804)

or

Dennis Kirk (SKU#: 431285)

i'll probably get the one at JCW since it has a removable baffle

That top video is stock?! Mine were much quieter than that - I heard someone compare the sound to an electric knife!
Maybe because the video is shot in an enclosed garage, they sound louder. For that matter, I would think that the Dunstall replicas would sound louder than they do if that video was taken in the same small garage, rather than out in the open.

They call those Dunstall replicas in the JC Whitney book? Those look more like reverse cone shorties.

The mufflers in that video are not the Dunstall reps from JCW.

Right, and they have the distinctive cartridge design in the end...

thanks for the info guys, i just assumed it was a different brand of the Dunstall style. i was just going off the name of the video i'm sure the tone from the JCW version are close enough to that video. i was more curious how different the triple sounded with a deeper note

IRLMIKE's video of one of his trips demonstrates the Thunderbike very well. While I like my TOR's very much, the Thunderbikes are something else again. Pricey, but maybe a permanent installation if you go with the stainless version?
PS- If that recording does those Dunstalls justice, they aren't nearly as sweet as the TORs. Just MHO, and not because I own them
