Breakdown
I decided to take a quick ride this afternoon, to make the most of the mild weather before it breaks. A couple of miles from home I pulled up at a stop light, and I could hear a light tapping noise which I've never noticed before. I decided to ignore it, which was a mistake.
About 12 miles later, belting down the road at about 90mph, the bike died. Thank God for breakdown and recovery cover.
When I tested the pickup coil at the connector, there was infinite resistance, so I decided to take off the cover to investigate. Now here's the funny thing, the ignition rotor had come off completely, and smashed up the ignition sensor. The bolt had backed right out. The surprising thing is, it must have happened gradually but the failure was instant. Weird.
Moral of the story, don't ignore strange noises!
