I have a legend at the moment.this is a great bike,i have to say. But,I want more.I am tempted by a tbs.I know it has better brakes and more power, but will I realy notice the diffrence on the road in real terms?

I have a TBS with green cams, open airbox, rejet, and aftermarket (Dunstall Replica) pipes.

I am putting just over 83 HP to the rear wheel. That would be approximately 95 or a little more Crank HP. It is pretty quick.

You can probably do the same to the legand but you would not have the braking and suspension the TBS has.

Actually what you will feel is better brakes and suspension, the claimed power difference is (I believe) largely myth (exaggerated). The TBS is often a better buy for the brakes and suspension alone. However, sit on both, ride both, the ergos are very different and you may find that the Legend suits your riding style better than the TBS.

I had a 99 Legend (put 20k miles on) which I sold for a 2000 TBS (now has somewhere around 60k miles).

While my TBS may not be a lot faster than the Legend I am a lot quicker on it. This is absolutely due to the brakes and suspension. I've changed mine a lot since new, but I remember noticing this the very first time I was in the mountains.

I never really gelled with the Legend, but dynamically and aesthetically I love the TBS. All the styling cues seem right, from the chopped fenders with the little ridges to the narrow bars with the cylindrical Master Cylinders (those rectanglar ones just scream cheap Honda to me). Only thing to remember, if you plan on carrying a passenger regularly get a 2000+ TBS as the pegs are A LOT lower.

While my Legend never did anything wrong (my ex said it was the most comfy for a passenger althoguh she rated the TBS a close second), my TBS just does so much more right. Also, if you plan on holding onto your bikes for a long time I really think that the TBSes will be the really memorable of the classic triples, and the 98/99 will be considered the best years.
