Busy weekend.

Saturday went to GEMS (Garden of England Show in Kent) to pick up my long awaited new seat from P&P. Who have been doing a custom job for me on a (damaged) stock seat I picked up from e-bay.
Have to say it came out better than I expected, especially the custom logo.

Sunday Triumph Day @ the Ace - to which a primary run around the North Circular (and its wonderful surfacing :hammer: ) gave the new seat ( and our bums) a taste of what we could expect, and I must say it was a less painfull experience. The seat is a trite firmer than before (even with inserted gels) which seems to work for rather than against. The new covering seems also to help against bum (especially pillion) slipidge.

All in all, tired but happy, and managed to stick a couple of pics in MY ALBUM this am: taken before the ACE run. (I chucked them in a seperate folder)

Next job (when finances recover) is to look at improving the panier system, including possible re-location of the rear indicators. I have some ideas in mind (including possibly making my own paniers) but time and money will tell on the rear light/indicator thoughts. (including what to do about the gaps left in the brackets if I do shift them)

Very nice! Who is P&P? I assume a local outfit there in London? And is that the Sprint MFG backrest/luggage rack?

I just put a Legend seat on my Tbird, but I'm keeping my eyes open for an inexpensive (maybe torn up) seat so I can have a custom one built.

BTW, love the Thunderbird logo!

A beautiful piece of work. If the place of business was a little closer I would have my K&Q redone. You have added some great personal touches to the machine. It does not look its age by any means. Keep the shiney side up.

@ Martin

Fairly local P&P not close enough for me to want to make the trip - which is why it took a while, all negotiations were done at bike shows. Including a drop off at one a couple of weeks ago and pick up at this one.

Nice people to do busines with, kept me informed all the way, and have offered to re-cover the backrest pad to match - which I think I will take them up on later in the year, & maybe thin it a bit using a skrap of gel material, and lose that button while i'm at it.

Yes it is a Sprint mfg Rack/Backrest which is (IMO) better suited to the bird than the stock one.

Thats a lovely job they have done on your seat, we have a bike seat specialist here in Brisbane, I am getting mine done by them real soon. Hopefully it will turn out as nice as yours has done.

Terrific seat! I've been wanting to do something about mine too. Great looking bike overall too.

I had P & P rebuild a Honda Magna seat for me some time ago. They were really helpful and did a great job at a reasonable price. Highly recommended.
