Thanks to everyone for the help so far. So I installed emgo shorties on my 98 TBS. Had some popping and back firing on decel. Removed the carbs to set the mixture screws they were set at 3.25 turns out. So I adjusted to 2.5 and the popping got worse. Set the carbs back to 3.25 and the popping is worse than before I touched the screws. Could the air box or rubbers between the carbs and air box be leaking? What should my next step be? Thanks again.

Conventional thought on that is if you are more than 31/4 to 3/12 turns on the pilot screws you need to go one step larger on the pilot jet and then try setting the screws.
