Well I got my `01 TBird home from 200 miles away. I brought it to the dealer for a once over and the verdict is in. It is worth $100 bucks more than I paid for it .

I paid $4400 for it with 11,000 miles on it the dealer has offically deemed it worth $4500. It seems fairly clean and has no real issues, other than the temp light is alway on. The dealer said it is an issue with the main wiring harness and if it was his bike he would ride around with the light on before investing $600-800 bucks in the bike.

The previous owner said the same thing. The fan and the cooling for the bike check out great so it looks like the temp light will stay on for now unless it starts to freak me out.

Here is a pic.

Thanks to everyone for their time and comments to my other posts.

Congrats on your new ride shame about the temp light though . Now go out there & enjoy that new ride especially since the snowbirds are pretty much gone.

Very easy fix for the temp light - no need to spend 600 bucks to fix it. There is a service bulletin to splice a ground wire into the main harness.

Great looking bike...
I like the slashcut pipes.

Like cafetbird says the temp light was a grounding problem. do a search on this problem and you will find many post on it.

My temp light wasn't on all the time but it would come on sometimes. I had heard about the grounding problem and when I had the tank off for other reasons I added a ground wire from the battery to the ground point on the frame under the tank where the wiring harness was grounded.

I haven't seen my temp light come on since.

:-D

The suggested earth ground fix was installed it did not resolve the problem. The issue is in the wiring harness, but thanks for the input anyway!
