Heated Grips

Finally bit the bullet and bought some Oxford Hot Grips for the TB, been thinking about it for a few years but after several recent cold rides and then trying TigerFox's heated grips on his Tiger I went and bought a pair. Yes it's mid winter here in NZ.

I did a search on the site and found a useful thread on installation tips, thanks to IrlMike and lovecuba plus a couple of others on a particular thread which was very useful in preparing me what to expect.

Overall they were easy to put on, I squirted a bit of petrol down the old grips and they came straight off, no trouble.

In fact I was so pleased with them I went out two days later and bought another pair for my CB1300 and have just put them on today.

Ah, you dedicated all year round bikers.

Here's another encouraging review of Oxford Hot Grips that might be of interest:

Yes a good write-up Tony in that link, almost taken from the manual !

Looks like they're cheaper here than in UK ! The price quoted in the link is GBP45-50 and they're sold here at Cycletreads Auckland at NZ$100 which is GBP38.50 although the recommended price on the box is NZ$110 (GBP42.30). These are the recent model too, as at Dec08.

I've had the heated grips on the Sprint, and now the Tiger. It definitely makes mountain and winter riding easier. I've not had the Oxford brand - have stuck with OEM, but have heard many good reports of them. Pity I don't have any for the pushy. I've got a 40km commute this morning and it's 3 deg C at the moment!
