Just put on a new front tire on my 96 adventurer. Now when I accellarate fast or get up to around 90, I got a shimmy and it's a nasty one.

The tire was a brand new pirelli dragon Z rated, correct size 110/80-18

That much out of balance?

It's possible the tire was balanced for the heavy spots, but not side-to-side (spin balanced). Or it's possible the tube is doubled over. Or yes, it can be that far out of balance. I've seen lots of less-than-satisfactory balance jobs on M/C tires.

If this is your first time installing a motorcycle tire then you need to make sure that you have it indexed correctly in relation to the valve stem.
There is a mark on the tire to show where the valve stem goes. (usually a yellow donut shape)
Also make sure you installed the tire in the correct rotational direction. (arrows on the sidewall show the correct direction)

Yep, I agree - whatever the cause (not balanced, tyre not alighned with valve etc) it sure sounds like the wheel is out of balance.
