Does anyone with a later model T-bird have a tool kit? I didn't get an owner's manual and the owner's manual I have is for a much older T-bird (it makes reference to the locking seat and the eccentric adjusters for the rear wheel.) That owner's manual says there's a tool kit behind the battery box but I don't have anything like that. I assume the large "bulge" under the left side cover is an air box? Was the tool kit, like the locking seat, another casualty of their cost-cutting measures?

Also, I'm starting to get an idea of why the T-bird was dropped by Triumph. Not because it's not a good bike, but if you look at the evolution of early-to-later models, it seems like they kept trying to cut corners and save pennies here and there. I think maybe the T-bird was simply priced too high for its target market, and there was no viable way for them to bring the price down, much as they tried. IOW the people who really wanted it weren't willing to pay almost $9k for the privilege, and the people with $9k to spend on a bike were spending the money on something else.

Oh well, their loss is my gain, right? :-D

Nope, I didn't get a tool kit with mine when I got it new. Had to buy the tool kit seperately. *grumble* And there's no good place I've found to store it on the bike itself.

I didn't pay near $9k either - more like mid $7k on a leftover. For that kind of money, it was the best value in a new European-made bike, apart from the small Monsters. This price is also comparable to an HD Sporty. So, IMO, the pricing wasn't that out of whack. The depreciation on these bikes is killer, though.

The toolkit wasn't standard on the Tbirds with the annoying hex screw seat latching system or 6 speed bikes. I believe they were standard on the older key locking seat bikes or 5 speed tranny bikes.

Triumph is also dumping all of their carb'd bikes. The only one left is the Bonnie and they will surely make an FI version of that since it is so popular.

My '04 TBS came with a tool kit which fits under the seat.

As for price, I was more than happy to part with $9k for what I consider the best bike that I have owned over the past 30+ years (which is a considerable number of bikes).

The only specific tool is the spark plug wrench ( mainly for cyl N°2) .. for the rest std tools will be cheaper an and better quality

Concerning the product policy , T3 carbs are not able to fullfill the new E emission spec

The bikes that had a locking seat instead of the bolt on seat came with a tool kit because it was fitted under the seat.
My 2K-TBS came with a tool kit but the rubber strap has long been broken. I just throw it in my saddle bags now.

Well, since it seems like everything is attached with allen wrenches, maybe a "tool kit" is just a set of hex keys!
