2000 Adventurer Chain & Sprockets?

One thing missing from my Haynes book-

Can anyone tell me the number of teeth on the stock sprockets and the chain length on a 2000 Adventurer?

The bike bandit will be able to tell you, from memory the Thunderbird sprockets are 17/43 teeth and the chain is 114 links. Please check though as the Adventurer may be different and my memory has been faulty before. Edit, I had the chain length wrong

You might want to consider going up one tooth on the front sprocket. I went from a 17 to an 18 on my Legend, and I think it places the revs in the power band better.

Hello there, I'm writing from Italy and my english is not perfect.
I wouldn't change a 17 teeth sprocket for a 18 on an Adventurer, because the total diameter (rim+tyre) of the rear wheel is much longer on Adveturer and T-bird (with 160/80 tyre) than on Legend:
in fact there is a difference of 19 mm.
And I can assure you it's a noticeable difference, I tried on my Legend both wheels and the overall gear ratio was higher (correct, in my opinion) with the 16' rim and 160/80 tyre.
A 18 teeth sprocket is a good idea on Legend, not on Adventurer.

Great point! I overlooked the tire size difference. Sorry for the brain fart!

I've done a bit more research since I first posted. Both Bike Bandit and JT Sprockets show an 18T front and 43T rear as stock for this bike. I think the earlier models may have had the 17T. Do others have something different?

My parts book shows Adventurer from VIN 71699 and up use the 18 before that they used the 17.
