Fuel leaking from airbox??

Hi guys- need some help here-

My Adventurer has been running like hell recently (and rather suddenly). Last night I forgot to turn the petcock into the "off" position. This morning I was greeted by a puddle of gasoline that appears to have leaked out of my air box. My first thought is that perhaps I have a float that's stuck in the wrong position. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

Josh

good diagnosis if you are sure it came from the airbox not the petcock.

Time to clean out the float bowls, and mesh filters. while you are in there inspect the float valves for wear.

small particles of rust and debris can make it through the filters on these bikes (you will probably find red powder in your float bowls). A better inline filter can help to eliminate this.

Just remember; an awful lot of the free advice you will get on forums is worth exactly what you paid for it. There will always be somebody trying to convince you to do something really stupid, just because they did it or want to do it.

I also discovered that if some of the vent tubes on the carbs become blocked, this will happen..... I tried to cap the cross tubes off after removing the California emissions, and had gas going everywhere....
