'95 T-bird sprag clutch and clutch hub
Hi guys,
Back again! Successfully replaced (I thought) bad sprag clutch-noticed 3 loose springs on clutch hub, but I left the hub in knowing I'd get a little jerk on clutch release but they want $600+ for a new hub. Road bike a while, probably 200+ miles on multiple rides, rides nice by the way. On my last ride, while coming to a stop I felt and heard a bad noise while the engine stalled. When I hit the starter I heard the tell tale sounds of ...SPRAG CLUTCH FAILURE!
Now it's back apart and the new sprag clutch has 5 teeth in a row that are no longer attached (I did find them elsewhere in the engine). During disassembly I'm looking for my error during assembly but found none! Everything proper, clearances good, even starter idler to sprag clutch has perfect play. Has anyone seen or experienced this type of failure? The clutch portion is working perfectly-it just sheared 5 teeth.
In regards to the clutch hub, it does have 3 loose springs. Is this normal? I located another but his has 3 loose springs also. Does anyone repair these hubs?
Thanks for reading and any help...
Kevin
