Hi guys been a long time since the last post of mine but still here and still riding.

Right here we go, anybody know just how low you can get a Legend/Adventurer/Thunderbird.
Ok out of the above in stock trim am I right in the lowest being the Adventurer. I know the Legend is lower than the Tbird but what about the Adventurer?
The reason is simple my better half will with luck pass her bike test this year and fancys a Triumph, she likes the Legend we have but finds it to tall and heavy. the Bonnie/T100 range are low enough but she does not like the seat perfers the Legend or her Virago shaped seat. her problem is at 5' tall her she an't got no legs as they say.
On the Bonnie the local dealer said he could drop the rear shocks by about 1" and push the forks up the yokes which will drop the bike overall in height.
Can this be done on the Adventurer/Legend range?
I have read about people changing the drop links on T/bird to lower how about doing this on Legends/Adventurer.

And another question
How can I reduce the weight of a Adventurer/Legend? or what about changing the tank? for one off a Bonnie?

You could certainly drop the back end of a Legend with longer link bars. They would be easy enough to fabricate as they are not much more than a bar with a hole at each end. There was a thread here a while back which suggested a little difference goes a long way. Something like an extra 1/4" between the hole centres will drop the back end significantly.

If your SHMBO is a lightweight then there is also the spring preload to play with, that should lower the ride height. Dropping the forks thru the yokes would even things up.

As far as swapping the tank, anything is possible but you are getting into some heavy modification, probably involving cutting and welding the tank. I doubt the Bonnie tank would have space underneath to accomodate the Legend cooling system.

Have you considered seat modifications?

Lowering and/or narrowing the seat can make a big difference for the "inseam impaired."
