gee i hope everything works out for you, the scooter idea is in the right direction, i know a guy who just wanted to be less dependend on his feet to shift so he got a helix from honda and you can,t get him off of it. as of this writing he is on his 3rd one because it is like a lounge chair (step through design)he has rode all kinds of bikes mostly when he was overseas in the 60s and says this is the only way to fly.good luck

Sorry to hear of your plight. I had a problem a couple of years ago - both feet and one hand - it turned out to be a prolapsed disk in my neck. Despite the warnings I had the op and I'm riding again now - so maybe you should find a really good surgeon? If not - how about a BMW F650GS? They're low, light and the fuel is under the seat so the centre of gravity is low - and if you drop it you probably won't do much damage and it'd be light enough to pick up again - oh and the suspension is soft so you won;t get too much jarring which might be important.

We are definitely going to the Cycle World show in Cleveland all day Saturday. I may find something I really like there. Somehow, I doubt it. I already have what I like in the Tbird. Maybe I'll just keep it til I get in trouble with it and think about it then. Don't want a side car. But, maybe I'll get some of those training wheels like my buddy has on a couple of his bikes down in Florida. What are those called, Tow-Pac kits? Nah. Rather go down in flames before I'll do that!

Actually, I'm going to focus on small cruisers, in the 500 to 750cc range. Then, if there is nothing there, take a hard look at the Suzuki Bergman 650.

Feel like I'm talking to myself here, but we did make the Cycle World Show in Cleveland. Will never go again. They oversold the parking lot and we had to drive around for 1/2 hour to park, after paying the #7. Then, inside, they oversold the capacity of the site and it was totally packed. Couldn't move, literally, and most of the traffic at the various displays was 3 or 4 deep. They had only rented 1/2 of the !X Center, the other side was a home show. So everything was crammed in, narrow aisles, etc. A mad house. We stayed only 2 hours.

I did look at the small cruisers. Best of the bunch was the new for 2004 750cc Honda Shadow Aero. The Yamaha 650 Silverado was nice also, a close second. But I am addicted to using a magnetic tank bag (it is my "purse" and I carry all the necessities in it). Most of the new cruisers have the instrumentation on the tank and you cant use a tank bag. Sound like a small thing, but not to me.

I'm about ready to say I'll keep the TBird and just take it easy and be especially careful. I'd rather ride it carefully than ride anything else I have seen.

Hey Monte,

Hope you stay around, but we'll all undestand if you find a different ride. I wouldn't reject the Bergman without giving it a good look. I've read Several really good renews of them.

In any case, stop in for a visit now and then!
