Warning Lights
Just wanted to say that this forum is great always get the answers that I need. Anyway my question is there a way to check and make sure that my warning lights are working on my 98 TBS? I want to have the peace of mind that the light will tell me that the bike is over heating. Thanks

It's possible to buy LED lamp replacements for the warning light bulbs, as some folks have done. Being solid state they'll pretty much last a lifetime. Various internet stores have them, & while you're at why not get some funky coloured LED lamps for your clock illumination?
I've never liked the idea of the temp warning light, much prefer to have a gauge so I can see what's going on at all times.
The stock temperature sender, top left on the cylinder head, will drive more less any standard gauge. Not neccessarily an accurate reading on a degree scaled type but will read somewhere in it's range to give a normal/up a bit/down a bit type of indication.
Fully waterproof types for bikes can be pricey but I figure the cheaper auto store types wouldn't be too bad, maybe with a little attention, rebuilt with silicone sealant or some such.
I've fitted T3 Trophy/Trident clocks which have a temp gauge built in. The electrical connector they use, & wiring, is identical to ours. Just remove the sidestand warning bulb, as ours don't use that extra function.

New bulbs
I replaced all the light bulbs but was wondering if they should light up when I start the bike? Just to let me know that the sensors and wiring is working? So I guess my question is are the lights suppose to turn on for a few seconds whe I start the bike? Thanks again.

No, you should just get oil & neutral lights & oil should go out as soon as the engine starts.

No, they do not light up if the engine is running, unless a fault is detected.

Just as a quick tip, if you want to test the temp warning light with little effort, try this:-
Unplug the sender wire from the sender (Top left of the engine block on my Legend TT. Then just ground the wire to the engine - easiest way I found with limited tools was to put a small screw into the connector, then touch the other end to any exposed metal on the block - one of the engine screws (?? - inch or so wide silver thing with a hex-driver slot on top) should work. If done with the ignition ON, the warning light will illuminate on contact.

You can test the fan switch by heating it up with a hot air gun, but don't get too close with it or you may melt the plastic housing.
