Question 2000 Tbird carb question

I recently purchased a 2000 Tbird with Keihin carbs. The bike had sat, and the carbs required cleaning. I removed the jets and soaked them. When I went to put them back, I noticed that the center carb main jet wouldn't screw in all the way and seat properly. I then noticed that the needle on the center carb seems to be sleeved where it goes from the throat into the bottom area (into the bowl). The outside carbs don't have that sleeve, so the mains seat completely. Have I screwed something up? Did I lose the sleeves for the outer carbs? Is this the normal configuration for the center carb?

Thanks for any insight you can give me....

Keihin carbs

Hi Rad. Just overhauled my Keihin carbs, 1st time, 99 Legend. There is a fitting, needle jet, that goes in first from the bowl side before screwing in the air tube & main jet. These needle jets can easily fall out of your carb while working on it. Found one of mine on the bench, one in the carb & one in the driveway where I air cleaned the carb body. You can a see a brakedown of the carb on Bike Bandit's web. Also, the information posted by jcatbert, ssevy & jimmy900 is invaluable.

Goodluck.

Thumbs up Thanks Terry!

Thanks for the info Terry. I figured that I musta lost something. I don't know, mighta been previous owner, the bike didn't run right when I got it....but, I probably lost 'em. Never knew they existed, but I did find it on Bike Bandit, so they are on order. Hope they aren't backordered, but, regardless, your information helped me out.

I've been reading some other links....lots of good info here.
