Airbox
Having attempted to split the airbox, and then read the threads on the forum, does the new OEM box come with the airbox/carb rubbers installed, or is that going to be another little gem?............and probably a costly one at that.
I'm suprised that no one, has copied the OEM box, and made it with a side filter hatch..............plenty of potential sales............
Thanks
Rob

I got a new Triumph airbox from Triumph'ant a few weeks ago and it had no rubbers attached anywhere. I replaced the carb rubbers as well and Sandy, the guy I spoke to, recommended getting the Triumph Tiger (i think) unrestricted rubbers for my 1997 T-bird as there were 120 main and 40 pilot jets on the bike. It's explained on the forum somewhere in more technical detail.
I don't have the receipt to hand so unsure as to the cost of them.

yep, I bought some new inlet manifolds today.....cheap as chips..............I'm extremely p*ss** off with Triumph over their 'buy a new airbox' scam. Do the later TBS airboxes fit, and if so, do they have the same threadlocked studs?.
You could have put my mind at rest with a price...................nevermind, I'll see what excitement tomorrow brings.
Thanks

I discovered the threadlock too when I bought a new airbox. Removed the captive nuts using a drill on the screws, spin up, plastic melts, pull out. Replaced with s/steel allen screws, washers & nylock nuts. TBS uses same airbox btw. With a bit of practice, airbox doesn't take much time to remove. No need to disconnect throttle cable, just slide carbs out to one side - left for Mikunis, right for Keihins.

Hi Mike, Thanks for the tip. I've mashed mine, so I've ordered a new one today. If anyone's interested about £44 plus delivery............the dealer says they're good for 20K miles
