T-Bird Sport Igniter trouble

I have a 99 T-Bird Sport which won't fire. Cranks, gets gas, etc.
I believe the igniter might be gone. Anyone down in the Wellington NZ area have a triple that they would be wiling to test my igniter on?
I have new Nology coils ordered, since I was getting the tach bounce and misfiring. Can see more carbon build up on #1 cylinders vs the others.
Also, the ground from the battery to the main harness got fried. Replacing that, then I'll confirm the coils firing.
The factory manual doesn't help much unless you have the factory test equipment.
Does the Haynes repair manual provide better at home diagnostics?

You can check with the wiring diagram of this link which was for the early 95-98 885 engine models and may still be the same for yours:

Thumbs up T-Bird Sport issues

All right, I got it going!!!
Here's what I did, it may help others.

Checked the grounds and made sure they were properly affixed. At each mounting point I sand to bare metal and then used dielectric grease prior to tighten everything down. Make sure you get the one in front of the radiator thermostat housing(left side under fuel tank).

I had a short from the negative side of the battery to the main negative bundle in the wiring housing.( Wife accidently crossed the battery posts when removing the battery for me-GREAT Wife, but not a mechanic.) Bike still ran for months prior to acting up.

Triumph only used a barrel clip to secure all the wires. I soldered, then clamped on a barrel clip, then shrink tubing, then re-wrapped the wiring harness.

Pulled the plugs and installed new ones. Bike was run a bit rich.

Reset/checked the fuel mixture. If you have a American bike, you have to remove the plugs they install to seal the fuel mixture screws. I installed new jets with the K&N filter.

Cleaned every terminal and applied dielectric grease.

Removed the tank and cleaned out the crud that had accumulated. I had to ship my bike to NZ with only 1/2 gallon of gas inside. Three months in a container floating around the world. Got rust in the tank. Nothing obstructing the filters, but about a dime sized pile of rusty crud.

Tested the coils and plug wires-good except #1 coil not reading as high as the other two. Have new Nology's on the way.

Pulled the carbs apart. Everything looked good as new, since I had done this about 5K ago to re-jet.

Just a note for anyone pulling the carbs for a rebuild. The rubbers from the engine to the carbs only fit one way. The engine dia. is slightly larger and the rubbers have a slight angle to them. The carbs should angle slightly downward.

Thanks for the help. Thank God it wasn't the igniter(but I did remove it and write down every transistor and resistor manufacturer and part number/made a schematic) Love the large lighted magnifying glass!

NOW I get to replace the fork oil seals.
