HID with ballast is the ways to go
I bought a HID headlight and ballast and installed on place of of my regular headlight bulb, bixennon is what they call those with both high and low beam. The lower the kalvin number, the more white (or yellow) and hbigh goes to blue. The lower number lights provide more useable and seeable light. You won't believe it. You'lll be able to see your beam inside of anyone elses beam. And they take less wattage. From there, consider adding auxilary lights.
Be warned that there could be some legal whatever, but since they are installing them stock on cars, I ignore people's comments on legality.
I did have to install an on/off switch for the headlight. When I turn on the ignition. the ballast lights the bulb. When I crank the motor, it sometimes dowses the light. Then I switch the light off and on again and it relights.
Definitely cheaper than 200, mine was about 80 US, but it isn't a beautiful change, just an extremely useful one
