WOW - 600 bucks! Glad my seat has a lock on it....
Wonder why this guy was had the misconception that it would only fit year 2000? The color, maybe?

I bought one through the dealer, new from Triumph, a couple weeks ago. They told me that Triumph America had two or three left in stock at that time, 2000 Tangerine only. Price $275. I checked today, they still have a couple in stock. Crazy!

Do you know if the cowl can be purchased separately from the seat? I got a brand new seat off off ebay for very cheap, but it has a black cowl and I was going to get it painted orange (tangerine) to match my 2003 TBS. I also have a red cowl from another seat, but it might end up being cheaper if I can just buy the part in the right color rather than going the paint route.
also what is the part number for the seat/cowl?
Anyway, I think sometimes people will pay anything on ebay just to say they won the auction.
Thanks.

I don't have the part no. for the seat here at the office, but if you call a dealer (Baxter cycle perhaps) they can pull it off the fische in less than a minute. You might very well be able to buy the cowling separate since it was called out in the part list as solo seat and "kit." I would say this about painting, the quality of the paint job on the one I bought was excellent and matches the other tangerine on my bike exactly. I bought a cowling for the T100 in ivory that I wasn't so impressed with. These TBS cowlings were painted some years ago, I am assuming that the quality hasn't been moving in a positive direction.

As time goes along accessories for our triples are going to fetch a mighty premium. I think that eBay price is a bit extreme but that is where we are headed I am afraid.

I wanted that seat on ebay for my legend project bike but the final price was way more than a new one which they have in stock for $475 AUD.Does the thruxton single seat cover fit over a standard thunder bird seat?I was thinking that may be a cheaper way out.

NOPE
Maybe it could be made to fit, but I would not buy a new one with those intentions.

I am assuming that the Thruxton cover is the same as the T100. If it is, they are quite a bit different. I had the TBS and T100 parked next to each other in the shop and the difference was noticeable. I am on the road this week, but when I get home next week I could pull the T100 cowling off and try it to see just how far off it would be, mounted up. If the substitution looked feasible I could post a couple of photos.
I agree with the comment above on parts and accessories for our classics getting harder to come by. These bikes are so well built and such a pleasure to ride they are going to be in the active fleet for a long time to come. Unfortunately, the overall number produced was so small (compared to the rice burners) that it doesn't make sense for the aftermarket companies to tool up to build parts for them. When the OEM stock runs out, ouch!
Best to all,
Ted
