Need Help: Tach disassembly

Hi all, I need your help.

The bulbs are out in my TBS tach, and when I try to pull the two acorn nuts on the back, they just spin without coming off the stud. I think the stud mounting is stripped inside the housing. Has anyone else had this problem? Any ideas how to get it apart without ruining the whole works?

Looks like no-one has any idea to help you sofar.

Take a look at this link to familiarise with the tach itself.

You could also try to spray a small amount of WD40 on the nuts and try to unscrew them whilst putting some pulling pressure on them. It might cause the inside mounting to grip slightly.

Thanks for the link. So far, the penetrating fluid hasn't worked--haven't been able to put enough pressure on the post.

I'm thinking of drilling a couple holes in the case, so I can get a pin into the base of the posts. Then I can put plugs in the new holes after. Fingers crossed.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't recall having to remove the tach or remove the nuts to change the bulbs. There are 2 rubber grommet affairs that are a press fit into the housing that just pull straight out from beneath. I'll check tomorrow to verify.
