Washin' the Liner?

Most helmets have removable liners so you can take them out and wash them. I've never seen any information on the best way to do it. Do wash them by hand? Just throw them in the wash? Delicate cycle in a lingerie bag?

Was reading the documentation on my HJC the other night. They recommend just tossing them in the washing machine and letting the air dry.

On our offroad racing helmet liners, we just soak them down and then clean them with simple green. Then rinse thoroughly. Some people are sensitive to certain cleaners and them being against your head for longs periods of time. Those people can clean their helmet liners with the same hair shampoo they use regularly. That way, no irritation.
