Best way for Helmet art?

Hey guys just wondering what would be the best way to put some artwork on a helmet. Vinyl stickers are going to wrinkle since the helmet is round, Would tape and spray paint work? Or does anyone know of any good ideas or places let me know! thanks alot

I used to paint my helmets using masking tape & aerosol paints. This is the same Bell Star II (apologies for the top photo, but it's the best I can make it ). A proper spray gun is preferable- I found aerosol paints to be pretty 'soft' after they've dried.

The paint on a helmet gets scratched & chipped over time & I used to repaint it every couple of years. This old Bell has been retired for over 20 years!

helmet paint

I have painted a helmet with celulose paints then clear laquer over the top. Seemed a good idea at the time but it took ages to mask the various layers.

The helmets you buy arai etc have decals like the models you made as a child. these are thin enough not to wrinkle. They are then laquered to make them tough.

cheers
Clive
