Hot weather gear

I am lucky enough to be living in the Caribbean, but the summers are damned hot, and my SHOEI skid lid is like a toaster oven after just a few minutes riding in the sun. It has a single vent in to front, bit it realy doesnt let in enough air to keep my head cool so doe anyone know of a full face helmet that has super eficient ventilation?

I am also using a Joe Rocket Ballistic Series summer jacked which isnt too bad as long as I am doing more than 30 mph but is still warm, so does anyone have any recommendations for an armored lightweight jacket designed for hot climates, perhaps there is something out there that is better than my JR.

And finally, summer riding gloves, with kevlar or similar knuckle protectors, I am using leather gauntlets with no ventialtion.. hot as hell so need something more appropriate for this climate.

Hot Weather Gear

I just replaced my Shoei RF-900 with an RF-1000 (http://www.shoei-helmets.com/road/helmets_road.aspx?h=3) and am amazed with the increase in ventilation over the 900. It has a intake vents on the chin and forehead, exhaust vents at the spoiler and neck. When I turn my head slightly to either side, I can feel air blowing on my head!

I have an AXO Freeon mesh jacket with armor on the elbows, shoulders and back that is relatively comfortable at 95 degrees F in Seattle WA. The humidity is undoubtably lower here but as long as I am moving, I am cool. I would rather be a bit toasty than unprotected.

My summer gloves are Icon Pursuit (http://www.rideicon.com/product_deta...y=1664&id=7031) perforated leather. Not the best protection, but VERY cool in hot weather.

I hope this was helpful.

I was looking into the khaki cotton ripstop triumph camden jacket, or the Rev'it AIR jacket which is all mesh and comes in different colors. Both have removable armor. As I mentioned in another summer jacket thread I'm not sure the camden is cooling enough, but the Rev'it in light colors is a little sportbike for me I think . . .

Not sure which to get!

and also, I definitely agree that the RF1000 has great venting. Pretty quiet too, especially with earplugs I usually wear. My matte black lid stays cool, it definitely isn't as bad as a hot leather jacket, or even a black textile one!!
