Arai helmet sizes little small?
Just received a new Arai helmet, the Profile model, sizing seems to be a bit smaller the HJC's, its a Lrg 59-60cm, my head is 59cm (7-1/8), and it is very tight. Anyone had this experience? Will lining compress fairly quickly to fit better? I purchased this online due to great price savings (over $130), but did not try one on locally

The padding will compress a bit, over time, but very tight is not good. It will cause headaches.
If you can't return it, you may be able to purchase thinner pads. I am not familiar with the Profile model. But my XD model has removable pads that are available in different thicknesses.

Agreed, should have tried 1st, but buyers impulse and the snazzy Union Jack graphics made me leap before I looked If no other padding options available, still have my HJC carbon or can return it for XL, or you just might find it for sale here in the classifieds

Mudtub - You are spot on about the Arai fitting smaller - much like the Suomy Extreme. I have a 71/4 head which should fit the large, but the x-large is the only one that is not too tight and it is more loose than I like to wear in a helmet
They do have replaceable cheek pads, but I suspect the tightness is more pronounced in the forehead area which cannot be changed.
If you can return it - I think you will find the x-large to loose
Might I recommend a Large Suomy Spec 1r extreme - that should fit you perfect Make sure it is the Extreme as the stock 1R runs much larger

Thanks for input, I suspect the XL might be to loose a fit, and with my 'Mr Clean' hairstyle helmets do tend to shift around a bit , which is why I'm probably not going to return it for exchange. I do have my HJC which is a very comfortable fit in Lrg, will keep using it while I look into other padding or maybe selling it.

Just tried new Arai's on this week...you do know the Profile is the "long oval" model...it was the only one that fit me "right" of the models I tried. I suspect if you are comfortable in an HJC, which is more of a round shape, you won't find ANY size Profile comfortable. You might want to try on the Vector or the Quantum 2.

Yes, the HJC AC12 carbon is a long oval also, and fits real nice on me. I have new cheek pads arriving tomorrow, will see how that helps. If not, it will be in classifieds shortly!

If you find the Profile (Viper GT in UK) difficult to size correctly, try the Vector. They are a different shape.
I had the same problem - Profile XL too big, L I couldn't even get on my head and the Vector (Chaser in UK) in a L fitted perfectly.
