HCI Retro Helmets????

Any Bonnieville riders have this helmet? It looks like a DOT knockoff of the Davida helmets, but very affordable. Please give me your input if you have one.

I don't want any responses about 1/2 versus 3/4 versus full face helmet arguments so please don't bore me with any responses of this type. We all have to make our own choices.

I use one. What's to know? It fits-it's a helmet.

I thought it was pretty "Spaceball"-esque, at least on my head. The Fulmer looks better (again--at least on my head).

I've got the 50 series retro for when I want to "look the part" or I'm just popping down the shops. Fits OK, is light and has the goggle strap on the back. Obviously (as you noted) it isn't going to afford as much protection as other types, but for what it is, the construction seems fine and it feels like a "real" helmet, rather than the flimsy novelty types.

The only thing I'd say is that I'd go for the 50 series and not the 55... the difference is that the 55 series has open straps over the ears and may get a little cold (the 50 is bad enough in that respect )

I got mine from Jafrum.com ... good price and good service.
Hope that helps...

I have the 50 series and it is actually a good quality helmet. The fit is good and it doesn't have the high mushroom head look. I picked up the black with silver stripe.

i have the Davida in the pudding bowl style and a coupleof the HCI -one black with black flames and one with the orange stripe-they are cool BUT not reccommended for crashing-

they seem oK to me but i sure would not want to face plant with one of those things on!

If anyone is interested, I bought this helmet online for abut $55. It's a large, and it didn't fit so I never wore it. Still has the tags on it and the original box.

Thanks, Postal

Postal123 on Jafrums' web site they say they will exchange for other sizes.I do not know how long ago you got the helmet. It might be worth the trouble of contacting them and a possible swap or trade for something else.

What's the design on your bowl?
